Description
These pants are crafted using a traditional indigo-dyed cross-stitch sashiko fabric from Shizuoka Prefecture.
The Enshu region, known for its rich textile heritage, remains one of Japan’s premier cotton-weaving areas.
The fabric is carefully produced at a historic mill that has been operating for over 150 years—handling everything in-house from hand-dyeing the threads to weaving the cloth.
The indigo yarn is dyed layer by layer to create depth and richness, then woven to highlight its natural texture. With each wash and wear, the fabric softens and develops even more character—aging beautifully over time.
This season’s version features a deep navy indigo base yarn woven with thick slub threads, creating a fine cross-stitch pattern by alternating navy and white weft threads.
The result is a cool, breathable textile that evokes the spirit of the Japanese summer—light, airy, and elegant.
The silhouette takes cues from traditional hakama trousers, but is rebuilt with a modern, dimensional fit that wears as casually as a pair of jeans.
Four buttons at the waist allow you to style it with either inward or outward pleats, offering two distinct looks in one garment.
Pair it effortlessly with a simple T-shirt, solid or patterned tops alike.
A truly exceptional piece that combines Japanese tradition with contemporary versatility—and only gets better with age.
