Product Description

A staple item from KUON, reimagining "Noragi," traditional Japanese workwear, with Western patterns.

It uses a special sashiko-ori fabric by Mr. Oba of Sanwa Textile, for whom sashiko-ori is his life's work.

The pattern was conceived over 40 years ago, based on advice from Mr. Yukitaka Yanagi, a textile artist whom Mr. Oba studied under for many years. The pattern, passed down through generations, has been updated for modern times, resulting in a unique fabric with a complex, three-dimensional texture.

Furthermore, product dyeing of the woven fabric creates shadows due to the unevenness and structure unique to sashiko, giving it a depth that belies its single black color.

While evoking traditional Japanese techniques and heritage, the pattern is constructed like Western clothing, so it doesn't lean too heavily toward traditional Japanese attire and can be naturally incorporated into modern styling.

Available in one size with a longer sleeve length. If too long, you can wear it cuffed.

Even simply worn over a shirt or cut-and-sew, it makes a statement and is a piece that fully embodies KUON's fusion of "tradition and modernity."
