[Designer] Shinichiro Ishibashi
After graduating from Bunka Fashion College, he apprenticed at a tailor in Marunouchi, Tokyo. He then worked as a pattern maker for a Paris Collection brand, and in 2016, he launched his own collection under the name "KUON."
[Concept]
The brand name comes from the Japanese word "Kuon" (distant past or future, eternity).
Upholding the belief that "new things grow old, but beautiful things remain beautiful forever," the brand aims to incorporate the history and culture of vintage clothing and fabrics found around the world, without being confined by them. The essence of the brand is to pursue a simple, undeniable coolness that remains unchanged through the ages.

This brand masterfully incorporates wonderful traditional Japanese fabrics that have been cherished throughout history, such as "sashiko" and "boro," into contemporary designs.
What makes KUON's clothing exceptional is that despite using such a wealth of Japanese materials, it doesn't result in a flat or ethnic silhouette like traditional Japanese clothing ("washoku"). Instead, it elevates them into sophisticated and modern "Western clothing." Thanks to designer Ishibashi's outstanding skills, honed through his experience as a tailor and at the forefront of Paris Collection, flat patterns are subtly transformed into three-dimensional pattern work that beautifully conforms to the body.
